General Purpose of Job
The Manager of Statutory Financial Reporting will manage a financial reporting team and processes for Statutory Financial Reporting. The manager provides leadership and manages a group that is responsible for the statutory financial reporting across multiple lines of business and legal entities. this position will work closely with our external auditor, state regulators, lines of business and others in our organization to reach and document technical accounting conclusions as transactions arise.Duties and Responsibilities



  • Manages the preparation, review and analysis of quarterly and annual statutory financial statements, (e.g., blue, green books) supplemental filings, statutory MD&As, and other required regulatory filings and surveys. Designs, implements and maintains an effective financial reporting control environment.
  • Designs, implements and maintains an effective financial reporting control environment.
  • Manages the review of selected quarterly account reconciliations, performs trend analyses for period end STAT GL balances and supports general ledger hierarchy structure relevant to Statutory Reporting.
  • Leads initiatives to implement new statutory accounting principles.
  • Assists with regulatory inquiries and examinations.
  • Provides technical accounting expertise and leadership while implementing and analyzing accounting policies to support LFG's goals and strategic objectives. Manages the review and research of technical accounting and reporting issues as they arise, and document conclusions reached in accordance with relevant accounting literature. Prepares and communicates concise and focused technical financial documents, presentations and communications to broad audiences (technical and non-technical).
  • Partners with key business areas to manage and/or lead special projects. Provides actionable and valuable information to enable decision-making that results in successful outcomes.
  • Maintains knowledge on current and emerging developments/trends for assigned area(s) of responsibility, assesses the impact, and collaborates with management to incorporate new trends and developments in current and future solutions.
  • Leads a team and processes for his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility. Manages assigned area(s) of responsibility to ensure workloads are appropriately balanced among team members.
  • Establishes and implements individual and team priorities, performance goals and objectives to ensure completion of responsibility for his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility.
  • Povides training and development opportunities, including stretch assignments, for team members and gives constructive and open feedback to aid in the development of talent.
  • Manages and evaluates individual/team performance and takes appropriate action to meet and/or exceed performance standards for assigned area(s) of responsibility. Promotes a team environment.
  • Ensures that top talent is hired and retained for his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility.
  • Manages and enhances organizational initiatives by positively influencing and supporting change management and/or departmental/enterprise initiatives within assigned area(s) of responsibility. Identifies, recommends and implements process improvements that significantly reduce workloads or improve quality across for his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility.

      Education



      • 4 Year/Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Minimum Required)
      • CPA Preferred
        Experience



        • 5+ Years of experience in Statutory Reporting that directly aligns with the specific responsibilities for this position, including 2+ years of managerial, supervisory, and/or demonstrated leadership experience (Required)
        • Demonstrated strong relationship management skills with internal clients (e.g. management, peers and colleagues); proven ability to develop collaborative approaches.
        • Strong project management skills including, critical ability to coordinate and balance multiple projects in a time-sensitive environment, under pressure, and meeting deadlines. Demonstrates ability to identify and recommend processes improvements.
        • Demonstrates ability to successfully hire, retain, develop and coach staff via a culture of real-time performance feedback, with ability to build both technical and leadership skills.
        • Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills with a collaborative style.
        • Demonstrates the ability to use sound judgment and discretion regarding confidential information.
        • Finds common ground and can gain collaboration among management, colleagues and peers; can influence outcomes without directing or commanding.
        • Proficiency with Hyperion Essbase and PeopleSoft GL applications preferred. #LI-DS
