Job Description
As a Process Engineer, you will be responsible for reducing product and process variation through the use of Six Sigma / statistical tools and the implementation or improvement of existing procedures and process controls. Essential functions may include, but are not limited to:-- - Product Development: Continually improve and optimize current products through variability reduction. Provide support for new products as they arise by interacting with marketing business teams.-- - Process Improvement: Initiate, implement and support new equipment and process upgrades to minimize scrap, increase productivity and improve quality. Assure improvements are sustained.-- - Manufacturing Support: Provide support to manufacturing to resolve production and quality issues that arise on a day-to-day basis.-- - Safety: Promote safety as the most important value in the organization by contributing through training, process improvement and other EH&S responsibilities.-- - Quality Assurance: Promote product quality by partnering with vendors and developing raw material specifications. Provide input to the manufacturing organization regarding product fitness for use. Understand customer needs and expectations.-- - Leadership: Be an active member of the Ft. Wayne support team. Help in the development and training of Ft. Wayne associates.-- - Support the on-call team.-- - Be available by phone at any time for process support questions.-- - Interact with Maintenance team to ensure equipment reliability.-- - Responsible for performance metrics on the Roll Editor as well as the coaters. -- - Specific Responsibilities-- - Develops and implements production/processing methods and controls to meet quality standards in the most cost efficient manner.-- - Investigates and resolves work-in-process problems.-- - Recommends and implements improvements and/or modifications in sequence of operations, equipment utilization, and related matters.-- - Monitors assigned operations to assure compliance with approved methods and quality standards.-- - Responsible for all phases of assigned standard engineering projects, ensuring the successful conclusion of all phases within an appropriate time and at appropriate cost.-- - Implements process improvements to meet quality standards, performs feasibility studies and solves problems.-- - Designs and develops procedures for processes such as unwinding, splicing, web guiding, coating, tension control, drying/curing, moisturization, cooling, laminating, winding and other material-processing operations.-- - Plans sequence of operations and specifies procedures for otherwise preparing basic material, exercising judgment in compromising between conflicting requirements, economic evaluation of methods, and operator effectiveness and comfort.-- - Conducts tests and measurements throughout stages of production to determine control over such variables as tension, moisture content, temperature, percent solids, and pressure.-- - Establishes and submits processing requirements to be met in designing and acquiring processing equipment.-- - Analyzes, researches, designs and develops materials and their related fabrication and application processes to develop and optimize materials for use in engineering design of and/or application in structures, systems and subsystems.-- - Applies principles of chemistry, physics, and material behavior to develop material and processing specifications, fabrication and assembly processes.-- - Develops, analyzes and applies material properties and design allowables, processing processes and quality engineering specifications.-- - Material analyses may include failure analysis of components, systems and subsystems, life predictions, and definition and requirement specifications.-- - May review and approve subcontractor material processing procedures.
Qualifications
B.S. in Engineering required-- - Six Sigma experience desired-- - 3-5 Years plant engineering experience Demonstrate working knowledge/experience in Process optimization, web handling and coating, and/or Knowledge of SPC and other related quality control methods.-- - Understanding of applicable computer systems, such as Microsoft Office, Lotus Notes and function specific software.-- - Must be dynamic, proactive, energizing, can-do attitude, credibility and ability to create and foster strong working relationships with all levels of the organization and team player-- - Ability to work comfortably in a fast-paced and matrixed organization, built around team concepts and structures and the ability to deal with constantly changing internal and external environments.-- - Proven ability to accomplish work through delegation & teamwork.-- - Proven change agent. Balance of strategic and tactical thinking skills. Strong organization and attention to detail. Strong verbal and written skills. Ability to interface effectively with cross-functional groups to define and execute overall requirements.-- - Knowledgeable on process documentation and improvement. #PIQ #MOGUL
