Position Summary
The Service Technician is responsible for providing Oceaneering
Mobile Robotics (OMR) customers with onsite technical support for
installation and maintenance of new and existing OMR Automated
Guided Vehicle (AGV) systems. The Service Technician excels in
electromechanical hardware installation, maintenance, and
troubleshooting while exercising a high degree of competency in
PLCs, software and diagnostics processes. The Service Technician is
responsible for working independently onsite with minimal oversight
to resolve onsite service tickets and reporting on the service
ticket status. They advise on improvements of processes to the
Service Manager.
The Service Technician works closely together with both
Installation and Service Teams to ensure optimal performance of the
OMR products.
The Service Technician role requires 50-60% travel to various site
locations in North America.
Duties & Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL
- Carry out maintenance, repair and installation activities as
directed by the assigned Service/Project Manager.
- Travel to project sites on repetitive schedules or (at times)
short notice for resolution of technical problems and
deficiencies.
- Perform hardware and wiring installation, assembly, repairs,
maintenance, and troubleshooting for AGV system components.
- Manage software configuration of parts for assigned maintenance
and repair work.
- Document maintenance and repairs process and lessons learned in
the OMR ticketing system
- Perform detailed technical activities onsite such as software
configuration, hardware calibration, statistic/log analysis, fault
diagnostics by means of testing to assist in the maintenance,
repair and/or commissioning of equipment.
- Review requirements, schematics and technical documentation
related to the product for resolving technical problems and provide
redlines as necessary.
- Observe and study the function of equipment, system operating
modes and system performance results to anticipate and correct
operational issues.
- Collect, analyze and summarize system performance data for use in
troubleshooting and diagnostics.
- Support engineering in the development of plans for the
maintenance and repair of AGV Systems.
- Identify and provide feedback with improvement actions as a
result of repairs, inspections, defect reports, incident
investigations etc.
- Provide advice and guidance to customer's technical staff on the
maintenance and operation of the AGV System.
- Professionally represent OMR while onsite executing installation
and maintenance tasks.
ADDITIONAL
- Continuously optimize the service processes by evaluating and
making recommendations for improvements as well as the development
of these improvements.
- Undertake continuous improvement and special projects as
necessary.
- Maintain proficiency in all areas as it pertains to his/her
area(s) of responsibilities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
REQUIRED
--- High School D
- High School Graduate or Equivalent.
- Technical degree preferred.
- Aminimumof2-3yearsof experiencein serviceormaintenanceengineering
or similar, preferablyin maintaining electromechanical components
and systems.
- Proficient written and oral communications in English is
essential.
- Availability to work predominantly (50%-60% of time or more) at
customer/supplier's project sites (travel will be required mainly
within North America).
DESIRED/COMPETENCIES
- Experience in utilization of hand tools for mechanical assembly
and wiring terminations.
- Experience with software tools for configuration, diagnosing and
use of PLC's, controllers, actuators, sensors and embedded software
devices.
- A minimum of 2 years experience developing or executing test
plans.
- Service oriented with a very strong ethos towards customer
satisfaction.
- Demonstrate ability to work independently under pressure,
proactive thinker/self-starter.
- Strong analytical, problem solving & decision-making skills.
- Proven ability to quickly learn and understand complex technical
topics.
- Knowledge and support experience for Windows OS, Active
Directory, MS Office Applications, Outlook & computer hardware.
- Excellent written and oral communication, to collect and
communicate information effectively.
- Ability to work in the United States.

WORKING CONDITIONS
This position is considered FIELD WORK which is characterized as
follows.
--- Almost exclusively indoors during the day and occasionally at
night.
--- Locations and conditions vary by customer.
--- Occasional exposure to airborne dust in the workplace.
--- Requires use of project specific PPE.
--- Frequently working near moving equipment.
--- Work surface is stable (flat).
--- Job tasks are performed near other people.
