Toolroom Manager

Job Description:

Basic Job Functions:
The Toolroom Manager is responsible for all personnel and operations regarding the production process for tool manufacturing during all shifts of the week. This includes the prioritization of tasks, inventory of materials and supplies, as well as daily shop floor activity.
Essential Responsibilities:
Leadership & Talent Development:

Lead all toolmaker and tool crib personnel
Personalize company and department objectives to support the overall vision and planning processes
Ensure communication within the tooling team and between ABC Operational areas are always maintained
Meet quarterly with all personnel to review performance and future goals for development opportunities
Provide support for issue resolution for all personnel

Management & Output:

Assist in producing quality products in a safe environment
Must be able to perform all functions of a toolmaker II
Manage and maintain correct records for all personnel within Paychex system
Work with support staff departments (Operational Engineering, Maintenance, Safety, Quality, etc.) to drive continuous improvement or tool manufacturing processes and costs
Coordinate the building of new tools and spare components, insuring that toolroom priorities match production needs
Debug and correct process problems to ensure the quality of the product is not compromised





Experience:

Must have Journeyman card and/or minimum 10 years in a toolmaker role.
Must have prior supervisory experience
Knowledge of Cad/Cam software (Mastercam 3D, Opticam 3D) preferred.
Knowledge of Heat Treatment Equipment and Processes preferred.
Working understanding of Wire EDM equipment, perishables and processes preferred.

Education:

High school diploma or GED required

Must have strong training skills and provide hands-on demonstration to toolroom personnel
Must have strong quality background for maintaining processes and attention to product specification
Must be able to read and convert blueprints to consistent production results
