Rapidly growing privately held manufacturing company in the building materials industry is seeking a Health & Safety Manager to lead site efforts to prevent incidents, accidents, and events that are dangerous or harmful, to employees, contractors, property, or the environment and ensures Company is following applicable, local, state, and federal regulations..     Essential Responsibilities:


    Compliance

    • ISO 45001 or OSHA, ANSI, NFPA standards for safe engineered design of machinery, equipment, processes and components
    • Safety review of capital engineering projects and leveraging applicable ANSI, NFPA and ISO standards for safe engineered design of machinery, equipment, processes, and components
    • Electrical Safe Work Practices (ESWP), arc flash training and requirements, NFPA 70E requirements applied in industrial manufacturing environments
    • Manages required reporting relative to local, state, and federal regulatory agencies
    • Interfaces directly with outside regulatory agencies to respond to regulatory inquiries
    • Manages and maintains the site OSHA 300 logs and reporting requirements


      Safety

      • Developing training strategies, implementation plans, content, and delivery (in-person, web-based and site-specific)
      • All forms of safety risk assessment methods, with a demonstrated track record of using JSAs and other risk tools to systematically drive workplace safety improvements
      • Incident management and root cause investigative techniques
      • Lean Continuous Improvement processes, and how to effectively integrate Lean principles into safety planning and management processes
      • LOTO procedures and permit systems.
      • Safe Work Permit Systems
      • Powered Industrial Truck safety training and requirements
      • Assisting the manufacturing facilities in the development of emergency response plans, emergency drills and training
      • Developing effective contractor safety programs
      • Developing site security assessment tools and providing guidance to manufacturing facilities to reduce security vulnerabilities and risk mitigation
      • Practices and re-enforces all site safety policies, guidelines, and procedures
      • Works with Training and Development to create, maintain and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all safe work practices and equipment
      • Participates in Job Safety Analysis (JSA)


        Health

        • Tracks and reports H&S performance for Company
        • Provides daily guidance and direction in H&S programs to all employees, contractors, and supervisors to ensure a common and effective approach
        • Conducts regular walk-through of all work areas to identify hazards, evaluate controls, recommend improvements, communicate with associates, and record appropriately
        • Monitors industrial hygiene and ergonomic assessments
        • Determines safety best practices and trains individuals and teams
        • Organizes and maintains Health and Safety records (Audiograms, Industrial Hygiene)
        • Prepares and provides input for the H&S budget for Company's current and new initiatives.
        • Partners cross-functionally to accomplish all regulatory training and related activities to employees and contractors
        • Leads and tracks incident investigations to identify root causes and drives corrective action efforts to prevent reoccurrence



          Position Requirements:


          Experience:

          Minimum of 5 years of EHS experience within a manufacturing facility and occupational safety job/internship experience preferred.

          Education:

          • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety & Health or related technical field
          • CPR/FA, OSHA General Industry Outreach, ASP, OHST, and CSHM certificates

            • Demonstrated knowledge of Process Hazard Analysis leadership
            • Excellent proficiency within Microsoft products (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
            • Proficient use of EHS information management systems and digital platforms
            • Clear driving record and insurable under company policy.
            • Leadership experience, including training and auditing for compliance


              Travel:

              Travel between two locations (Pioneer, OH and Bryan, OH) as needed and occasionally to Grand Rapids, MI.

              Physical Requirements:

              • Combination of office/desk work and production floor safety management
              • Ability to lift 50# on a periodic basis, bend, stoop stand throughout the day.
