TravelNurseSource is working with Cynet Health to find a qualified Med/Surg RN in Fort Wayne, Indiana, 46845! Pay Information $2,236 per week About The Position Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Central Registry - Float Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 7 PM - 7 AM Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 1 year MedSurg hospital experience required. Two years is preferred. License: IN license or compact required Certifications: BLS through AHA required Must-Have: Candidate must have at least 1.5 years of Level 1, Level 2 or tertiary experience. Description: General Medical and surgical units care for a diverse population of patients with varying diagnoses. Patients may have chronic illnesses such as COPD, Diabetes, CHF, and end-stage renal disease. Management of GI issues includes pancreatitis, bleeding, and inflammatory bowel diseases. Management of infections such as pneumonia, cellulitis, sepsis, UTI, and c-diff is also required. Care may involve patients with neurological issues, including stroke and traumatic brain injuries. Patients with mental health disorders, such as depression and anxiety, will also be under care. Procedures may include colonoscopies, thoracentesis, bronchoscopy, and minor surgeries. Job duties involve general medical surgical nursing care. Skills and tasks required include assessments, care planning, and inter-professional communication. Utilization of electronic health records and various medical equipment is necessary. Required equipment includes IV pumps, wound vacs, feeding pumps, feeding tubes, and management of drips. Patient ratios are typically 1:5-6. 12-hour shifts will include 3 weekend shifts every 4 weeks. Floating to other medical units may occur based on patient care needs. Orientation includes one day of general hospital orientation followed by approximately five days of nursing orientation.
