Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 1-2 Years of Medical
Surgical Experience Preferred License: Valid RN License Required
Certifications: BLS (AHA), NIHSS Required Must-Have: Must obtain
NIHSS certification prior to start Description: Desired start date
is 02/2336 or 48-hour weeks are available, please notate preference
in submission. No RTO in the first two weeks of the assignment.
Weekend requirement: Will work every other weekend. Float
requirement: May be asked to float to other Medical Surgical Units,
ICU Units, and ED waiting rooms. Night shift ratios: 1:5-6, no LPN
on nights. Charge nurse is free when fully staffed. Staffing
usually includes 4 RNs, and charge takes 3 patients. Charge takes 6
patients when only staffed with 3 nurses. Equipment utilized
includes EPIC and Pyxis. The unit specializes in the care of
patients with neurological disorders such as strokes, epilepsy, and
other inflammatory disorders of the brain and spinal cord. There is
a substantial spinal surgery population that includes care for
post-operative neurosurgery and orthopedic surgery patients. The
unit also includes step-down/telemetry beds and bariatric beds,
allowing for diverse patient care. A Neuro Monitoring Unit is
available for seizures starting at age 5 to find the cause of their
