Job Description:

The Vice President, Supply Chain will oversee Lutheran Health Network Materials Management operations, and will report directly to the Network Leader and indirectly to a corporate Supply Chain Officer. Responsibilities include oversight for the Network’s purchasing, inventory management, courier service, distribution center, and linen service operation for all network facilities. This individual will develop, implement and monitor Supply Chain network goals and objectives to most effectively integrate the technical and human resources to support the organization’s mission.This role will have responsibility for managing several million dollars in annualized supply expenses and capital expenditures. The Vice President, Supply Chain will work directly with the CEO's, COO and CFO's of each facility to assure expectations of service are exceeded at each network hospital, and aligning with the Corporate Supply Chain Initiatives.

Job Knowledge & Skills:

Requires working knowledge of negotiation of contracts, purchase orders, etc., with hospital suppliers for the Lutheran Health Network to ensure ongoing compliance with customer needs, as well as network financial goals and objectives, and Group Purchasing Compliance.

Demonstrates extensive knowledge of procedures and regulations relating to the procurement, storage, receiving and distribution of supplies/equipment utilized in an acute care facility.

Requires an extremely high level of analytical and organizational skills in order to direct and coordinate network entities, effectively develop staff, develop and monitor budget, short and long range planning and solve complex technical and human resource problems to ensure optimal development and maintenance of services.

Demonstrates extensive knowledge of compliance with regulatory agencies impacting network materials management activities, and preparation of reports concerning status of activities/concerns in areas of responsibility.

Provides effective direction to the Network Material Management team, associate training and developmental projects, performance planning, review and quality control.

Researches, develops and with approval administers a Network and Hospital Materials Management budgets for all assigned entities and facilities, providing for the attainment of agreed upon goals and objectives. Ensures compliance with budget guidelines and constraints.

Works regularly with Hospital Administration in order to identify and resolve problems, coordinate and improve services offered; participates in the planning and implementing of new projects and services, etc.

Represents the hospital to a variety of community and professional organizations. Identifies new business and community outreach activities; works with others on their development and implementation.

Provides direction in product service research activities; i.e., review of new products/services offered, evaluation of user and network entity needs, costs, delivery dates and other factors in order to maintain a customer oriented, quality and cost effective supply

Ensures compliance with regulatory agencies impacting network materials management activities including purchasing, inventory management, distribution, and linen service operations in an acute healthcare facility.

Provides direction in product service research activities; i.e., review of new products/services offered, evaluation of user and network entity needs, costs, delivery dates and other factors in order to maintain a customer oriented, quality and cost effective supply.

Continually reviews and analyzes the operation of areas of responsibility, ensuring that staff are providing efficient and quality delivery of services while productivity targets are achieved.

Stays abreast of competitor offerings, trends, developments and legislation impacting areas of responsibility and communicates understanding of same to staff.

Demonstrates an extremely high level of interpersonal and communication skills, verbal and written, necessary to interact effectively with all internal and external division customers, as needed.

Experience:

Ten years of hospital supply chain experience and five years of leadership experience required, preferably with multi-hospital supply chain experience. Involvement with receiving, storage and distribution activities. Previous experience managing a courier service and a distribution center.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field required. Master’s degree preferred.
