ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Works closely with Student Transition Coordinators and school teachers to determine programming and appropriate curriculum for Pre-Employment Transition Services.

  2. Works closely with the Student Transition Coordinators and school teachers assisting in selecting candidates for the Pre-Employment Transition Services programs.

  3. Completes all required documentation, reports, paperwork and billing for selected students and services accurately and in a timely manner.

  4. Attends student/parent case conferences when appropriate.

  5. Assists in formulating teaching outlines and determining appropriate instruction methods. Select or develop teaching aids - handouts, power point presentations, workbooks, etc.

  6. Researches, recommends and prepares educational materials as needed.

  7. Provides Pre-Employment Services in the school to students in individual and / or group settings; job exploration counseling, work based learning experiences, counseling on opportunities for post secondary education, workplace readiness training and instruction on self advocacy.

  8. Identifies the individual needs of each student and updates the student portfolio to document the work readiness and accomplishments for potential employers.

  9. Tests students to measure progress and evaluate the effectiveness of the training, document all outcomes.

  10. Conducts on-site observations of individuals enrolled in work assessment/evaluation

components and documents findings as needed in the absence and direction of the Student Transition Coordinator.

  1. Provides support services such as; job seeking skills, bus training or other transportation

assistance, advocacy and referral services as needed in the absence and direction of the Student Transition Coordinator.

  1. Interacts cooperatively with co-workers and referral sources to ensure smooth delivery of

services.

  1. Follows all safety rules and practices.

  2. Performs all other duties as may be assigned by the Director of Client Services in

the process of carrying out the mission of Goodwill Industries.

NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Conducts needs assessments as directed.

  2. May assist in conducting summer programs for students outside the regular school year

  3. May assist in marketing student work-based learning experiences to businesses through the use of direct mailings/emails, personal/phone presentations, relationship building and networking.

  4. Orders and maintains adequate supplies.

  5. Works cooperatively with Employment Specialist and Job Support Specialist to provide support and training to individuals in other Goodwill services as necessary.

ATTENDANCE

As a non-exempt employee Goodwill depends on you to be at work as scheduled.

JOB PERFORMANCE

Reviewed upon initial hire at 30, 60 and 90 days, and annually thereafter, by the Director of Client Services.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Pre-Employment Transition Services Students and other Training Program participants

EDUCATION

  1. Bachelor's degree preferred.

  2. Ability to obtain CPR/First Aid Certificates.

EXPERIENCE

2 - 3 years training and teaching experience

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/COMPETENCIES

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Ability to interact with all levels of the organization.

  • Proficiency in use of computer (Microsoft Word, Excel and Access).

  • Ability to work within the team concept.

  • Ability to work in an efficient and organized manner.

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.

CREDENTIALS/LICENSES/SCREENING REQUIREMENTS

  • Must provide proof of insurance for personal vehicle at approved levels (100/300.000 liability; 50,000 property damage.)

  • Must have suitable driving record and be insurable by Goodwill Industries insurance carrier.

  • Subject to random alcohol and drug testing as specified in the DrugFree Workplace Program.

  • Fully comply with Goodwill's Code of Ethics.

COMMUNITY INTERACTION

Contact with students, other training program participants, co-workers, training sites, employers and schools systems.
