Supervisor, Patient Access Location: Lutheran Hospital EMERGENCY DEPT Full Time Exempt

Job Summary:

* Under the direction of the Network Director, Patient Access is responsible for the day-to-day operation and supervision of patient financial advocates and other support staff in an assigned area of the department which may include the Emergency Department, Admissions Team, Financial Counseling and Insurance Verification.
* Coordinates admissions process and communicates with physician offices, nursing and other service areas to promote timely and accurate registration process.
* Assures, through assigned staff, the appropriate verification of insurance benefits, pre-authorization/pre-certification when necessary, need/eligibility for financial assistance, and collection of applicable co-pays and/or deductibles, and assistance to patients and family members with resolution of all their financial needs by establishing payment arrangements or financial assistance determination.
* Staffs department as part of the registration team, responsible for call-in staffing, bringing issues to management for review and maintenance of time card management and approval.
* Required to take call rotating weekends as needed for staffing.

Minimal Acceptable Job Qualifications

Licensure:

* None required

Experience:

* Two years progressively more responsible experience in an acute care facility providing patient accounting services and/or registration services.
* Prior experience in leadership a plus.

Education:

* Minimum of a high school diploma or GED
* Additional course work and training a plus

* None required.
