Bulldog Battery Corporation (Bulldog) is a 100% employee-owned (ESOP) company that manufactures and distributes industrial batteries used in forklifts, order pickers, pallet jacks, locomotive diesel starting, explosion-proof batteries, and more. Each battery that leaves our 187,000 sq. ft. manufacturing facilities undergo extensive testing, including full discharge and equalization.
We pride ourselves on our rapid order delivery. While the world struggles with supply-chain shortages and delays, Bulldog Battery has integrated each step of the manufacturing process in-house. Competitor lead times are backlogged more than 12 weeks, whereas we typically ship within two and strive for a one-week ship date. We lead the way when it comes to industrial batteries.
Position Summary: We're seeking a well-qualified Plant Manager that can help us further develop operations and processes, promote 6S organization and lean manufacturing principles in our fabrication manufacturing facility.
Job Responsibilities

  • The Plant Manager will have overall responsibility for the day-to-day manufacturing and distribution activities at Bulldog Battery's North plant.
  • Develop and maintain procedures/processes to optimize set-up times, cycle times and workflow that fully utilize resources.
  • Coordinate with maintenance to assure that equipment is maintained and operational, ensuring maximum uptime.
  • Drives the facilities to ensure that safety, quality, productivity, delivery, and budget goals are achieved.
  • Assumes responsibility for the overall quality of products produced and shipped to Customers.
  • Supports Continuous Improvement by identifying and addressing any opportunities to reduce cost, improve product/process and/or improve overall operations.
  • Help set Continuous Improvement initiatives to drive short-term and long-term improvements.
  • Engineer and recommend changes to leadership team regarding workflow and layout of equipment to maximize efficiency, including process changes, new equipment, techniques, or methods.
  • Develops KPI metrics and regularly presents to Leadership Team.
  • Communicate all work in progress and inform operations management of potential problems with agreed deadlines and/or cost issues.
  • Establishes strong and effective working relationships that are conducive to maintaining a positive work environment.
  • Responsible for the performance and professional development of all team members including cross-training, safety, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions.
  • Assists HR in handling discipline and termination of team members as needed and in accordance with company handbook and policies.
  • Maintains a positive working environment free of harassment and discrimination as outlined in the team member handbook.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and orderly work area adhering to and enforcing all safety requirements and rules. -Qualifications, Education, and Experience
    • Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing techniques with emphasis on Standardized Work, Continuous Improvement, and 6S principles.
    • Minimum of 5 years of manufacturing operations experience in a Lean Manufacturing environment.
    • Minimum of 2 years of managerial experience leading cross functional professionals.
    • Engineering degree or background highly preferred.
    • Demonstrated proficiency of 3D CAD drawing through SolidWorks, AutoDesk 3D, AutoDesk Inventor, or similar.
    • Strong Problem-solving skills.
    • Strong Written and Oral communications skills.
    • Ability to handle multiple priorities.
    • Demonstrated experience in motivating and leading people, driving a positive work environment.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
