National Director of Sales

Job Description:

Opportunity The National Director of Sales is an important member of our strategic management team, ultimately responsible for ensuring customers are satisfied, revenue numbers are met, and sales team members across US territories are coached and motivated. Specific duties of this role involve strategy and execution surrounding key areas of our business including: achieving revenue goals, equipment needs and forecasting, working with operations team to forecast, plan and execute for pipeline deals. This role will report to the Chief Executive Officer and Vice President.
Job Duties

  • Manage a salesforce of Territory Managers, Inside Sales Reps, and Administrative staff to motivate, optimize performance, and ensure internal customer relationship expectations are maintained.
  • Drive sales strategy to ensure department revenue goals are met, seeing opportunity in utilization and incoming fleet and setting clear direction for sales team regarding their specific monthly goals.
  • Assess current sales team needs, build the remainder of our nationwide salesforce.
  • Review current contract for major customers, leading contract renegotiations with Territory Managers where
  • necessary.
  • Coach and professionally develop from trainee to territory manager level a salesforce that's remote and onsite.
  • Provide strong communication between the marketing, finance and ops team and sales functionalities.
  • Contribute to upper management decision and execution to ensure sales department process efficiencies.
  • Develop and execute monthly and quarterly sales goals and ensure account management best practices.
  • Ensure and improve customer satisfaction - develop a way to measure 1and monitor this.
  • Have a deep understanding of how our business works and contribute to operational and procurement
  • forecasting and strategies.
  • Contribute cross-functionally -considering all aspects of the business it takes to deliver quality product to a happy
  • customer.
  • Review current sales software and pipeline/CRM tracking methodology, implement new software and procedures
  • as necessary.
  • Foster strong customer relationships, stepping in when an account management concern needs to be escalated.
    Required Skills
    • 5+ years' experience as a successful sales manager for multiple state territories (preferred over $10m/year in territory revenue) within the equipment rental industry or similar space.
    • Excellent communicator. Handles strong personalities well, addresses conflict tactfully as it arises.
    • Strong enough personality to command respect, but collaborative to work well with other departments.
    • Held an operational role and/or have been very involved in operations.
    • Thrives in a teamwork-based environment. We win together, we lose together!
    • Extremely detail-oriented and self-motivated.
